Jonathan Cohen (Enlightened
Editing) (4/8/2002 9:00 AM): hi Rob and Tamra
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:00 AM): Greetings, Rob! Hi Jonathan!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:01 AM): Hey there, everyone. Jonathan, did you answer that
post for copywriters that went out over the weekend?
weber jajagroup.com (4/8/2002 9:01 AM):
Entered the room.
Tamra (tamra@hcstudios.com) (4/8/2002
9:01 AM): G'morning all!
Jonathan Cohen (Enlightened Editing)
(4/8/2002 9:01 AM): Rob - yes, I did.........
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:03 AM): Alrighty then, what's up this morning? Do you suppose
we can entice some lurkers into the fray?
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:04 AM): Rob, great stuff in FrankelTips today!
George (gwilliams@plannedlegacy.com)
(4/8/2002 9:04 AM): Entered the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:04 AM): Alan, you're seeking an e-zine host?
Jonathan Cohen (Enlightened Editing)
(4/8/2002 9:05 AM): Yes, amazing how a large company like Yahoo
will squander goodwill like that.
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:05 AM): Entered the room.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:05 AM): It made me wonder if the big "leaders" like
Yahoo! are setting a bad example for the smaller brands - i.e.:
some smaller ones thinking they should follow the leader?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:06 AM): Thanks, Terri. I expect that yahoo is ready to slide....it's
amazing the similarities that occur among big brands.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:06 AM): Actually, Terri, in this case, I think it's a combination
of hubris and the big guys being so confused as to be looking
at the little guys for solutions -- but not getting it.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:07 AM): Entered the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:07 AM): What I love about the web is that very often, it's
the little guys who understand it best. The big guys don't get
it, so they look like hippos trying to dance ballet.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:08 AM): Well, if that is the case, Rob - yahoo obviously looked
to the wrong little guys to get this latest stunt! :)
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:08 AM): Open for questions?
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:08 AM): that worked in Fantasia!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:08 AM): Yahoo was smart to make the change during a heavy news
week, though.
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:08 AM): IMO, the big guys on the internet are really only lots
of little guys in one room - I mean they are not like a GE or
GM for example.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:08 AM): Terri, I think they've jumped on the "let's increase
revenue" bandwagon. But they're blowing it big time.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:09 AM): Sure George, fire wawy!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:09 AM): away!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:09 AM): God, my typing is off today. Must be Daylight Saving
Time
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:09 AM): I have not seen any general media news about the Yahoo
changes -only in online marketing news sources. looks like they
have slipped it past so far
GOD (4/8/2002 9:10 AM): Entered the
room.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:10 AM): I'm creating an in for product to go after a large
market. The problem is, the market is based on a current product
which has a large market but doesn't have this information.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:10 AM): If there's no news this week, it will likely crop up
as "while you were sleeping, Yahoo quietly announced"
kind of story...
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:10 AM): even GOD need's Branding help....
Tamra (tamra@hcstudios.com) (4/8/2002
9:10 AM): Might not be any general media news, but the blogs
and mailing lists are full of Yahoo rants.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:11 AM): What's the problem George? Sounds like you're ready
to go.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:11 AM): Can I use the current product's company name and piggyback
on that without copyright trouble?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:11 AM): And look who GOD comes to! I'm so flattered!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:11 AM): I usually consult via burning bush.
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:12 AM): There's an ointment available for that...
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:12 AM): George, you should be able to use the company's name
so long as you don't in any way use it for endorsement purposes,
only informational.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:12 AM): Suppositories, too.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:13 AM): Woody's Office Watch is a good example of that being
done, George.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:13 AM): So, if the product is Joe's Widgets - Can my info product
be 1000 ways to use Joe's Widgets?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:13 AM): Although I'm no lawyer, George, what you want to do
is use them to set up the category, then launch into your spiel
without mentioning them again. That keeps them separate and keeps
you out of trouble.
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:13 AM): Microsoft is an interesting case on the tag along theme
Windows was never protected as a trademark so that people could
freely use it in that manner
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:13 AM): Yes, George. It's like Windows for Dummies.
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:14 AM): MS LOST their court case against "Linwodws.com"
for this reason - failing to protect.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:14 AM): Windows is a registered trademark. But as such, it's
a recognizable entity and part of the public space. As long as
you acknowledge that Joe's Widgets does not authorize or endorse,
you should be okay.
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:15 AM): err make that lindows.com
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:15 AM): Entered the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:15 AM): Of course, that doesn't mean their lawyers won't come
after you, but they don't need a reason to sue anyone for anything.
They just do.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:15 AM): Thanks, Another interesting question. Could I get away
with a domain name like Joes-Widgets-1001-Uses.com. You know
what I mean?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:16 AM): The beauty of Windows of Dummies is that it helps promote
the use of Windows, so MS has no real gripe there.
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:16 AM): go for it - if the cease and desist comes then move
along
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:16 AM): Yeah, George, why not? What happens when you type in
WindowsforDummies.com?
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:16 AM): I did notice one other person with a domain name containing
their company name. It has since been changed for no reason that
I could see.
PeterClough@ebasesystems.com (4/8/2002
9:16 AM): Exactly - but when Lindows attacked they had no defense
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:17 AM): Yes, I think Peter has the right idea. For entrepreneurs,
it's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:17 AM): You make an interesting point
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:17 AM): George, the key is whether you're anti- or pro- widget.
If it helps build their market, you may actually work it into
them backing you.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:17 AM): And that's the angle I would pursue if I were you.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:17 AM): It would help build their market
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:18 AM): Thanks, appreciated.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:18 AM): No problem....anyone else?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:19 AM): Entered the room.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:19 AM): Entered the room.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:20 AM): Well Rob, If no one else has a question, how is your
community building going?
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:20 AM): Hi Rebecca, love your URL
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:20 AM): Which ones?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:20 AM): I'll jump in. I have a web site design business
and I'll be moving soon. Working on their web sites isn't the
issue; them freaking out is. Any ideas on how I can soften the
blow and not cause panic or stress?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:21 AM): Thanks, George! I love my business and it's
name.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:21 AM): The new business. I thought it looked interesting.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:21 AM): "Them" being my current clients,
of course.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:21 AM): i-legions is being well-received, and the sales are
slow but starting. It's a long sales cycle.
Tamra (tamra@hcstudios.com) (4/8/2002
9:21 AM): Entered the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:22 AM): Rebecca, why would they care if you move?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:22 AM): Some of them need hand-holding. I personally
don't mind and don't see them, but some of them will stress.
Tamra (tamra@hcstudios.com) (4/8/2002
9:23 AM): Rebecca, when we moved from CA to OR we didn't tell
clients until *after* we'd been there a week or two. The move
was invisible to them (phone was forwarded) so when presented
with "we've already moved and it didn't hurt" they
had no reason to freak.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:23 AM): I know of a market that could use your i-legions service
and profit incredibly. The challenge of course, would be convincing
them to use it,
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:23 AM): The thing is to train them from the start to work by
phone and e-mail -- which is probably how you handle them now
for the most part, anyway.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:23 AM): Focus on the things that WON'T change -- because there
are a lot more of them. In fact, the only that will change is
your physical address.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:24 AM): I like that Tamra; I think I'll go with that
in a modified format: Provide a handout or something on how to
make it work.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:24 AM): I will still be keeping a local number, so
that helps, too. Thanks Tamra!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:24 AM): George, did you know that we're signing reps? Contact
me off list for an agreement. If it works, you're in for 20%
for the life of the client.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:25 AM): Will do
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:25 AM): Tamra has it right. I suspect they won't freak as much
as you might....
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:25 AM): Rob, would you think it better from a branding pov
to be an independent member of an international network or a
standalone local business that uses an international company's
software?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:25 AM): Thanks Rob! Sometimes it's easy to see the
glass is half-empty. Glad to know it is sometimes half-full.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:26 AM): Fred, I go for the latter, but then I'm the kind of
guy who believes that there's no such thing as corporate job
security. I hate placing my destiny in other people's hands.
Tamra (tamra@hcstudios.com) (4/8/2002
9:26 AM): We also got a toll-free number, which helped remove
any "it'll cost me more to call you" stress.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:27 AM): If you have the option, why not build your own brand
with their tools?
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:27 AM): Good. We think alike. Just checking
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:27 AM): Entered the room.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:27 AM): Super! Thanks Tamra!
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:27
AM): Entered the room.
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:27 AM): "Morning everyone!
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:28
AM): hi Rob and everyone!
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:28 AM): That's what I'm doing, Rob
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:29 AM): I also feel more secure that way - if they crash for
any reason, I'm still around to my local community.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:30 AM): Yes, and why not? I'm fine with empowering others to
get rich. But too often, affiliate stuff just doesn't work for
me.
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:31 AM): Thanks for the confirmation.
GOD (4/8/2002 9:32 AM): speaking of
affiliates are there affiliates programs out there that you can
earn even if the customer returns to the site later?
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:32
AM): got bumped off ISP
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:32 AM): If you're really God, then you'd know the answer --
wouldn't you?
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:33
AM): Entered the room.
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:33
AM): back now..got bumped off ISP
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:34 AM): Just as an example, on our PillowMail site, we tested
with affiliate advertisers. We sent them traffic and they made
sales. How many check do you think we've received?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:34 AM): "GOD" Wow. Now *that's* some branding!
<grin>
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:35 AM): Hey God, for customers returning, it all depends on
the life of their cookie browser. Amazon, for example, only allows
commissions on the visit for that one visit off your link.
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:35 AM): So Rob, how many checks DID you receive?
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:35 AM): Rob, I thought with affiliate advertisers YOU got the
money and sent them a check?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:36 AM): If you return after that, there's no commission paid
because they don't know who to pay -- the cookie has expired.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:36 AM): Janiene: Zero. Zip. Nuttin'. And their records show
we earned money.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:36 AM): Was that due to a poorly-run affiliate program
or a bad agreement?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:37 AM): No, Terri. With affiliates, you as an affiliate send
traffic to their site. When they make a sale, they send you a
commission check. I do this with my book and tape set.
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:37 AM): I thought the Internet community was still a place
of honor between it's citizens. Guess not , eh?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:37 AM): Rebecca, it's due to bad business people. The agreement
has nothing to do with it. people either are good businessmen
or they're not.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:37 AM): Ahhhh.. never mind.. I see where you were coming from!
I belong to one or two that pay nicely, but the fine print states
that they only pay once my commission reaches XX dollars
GOD (4/8/2002 9:38 AM): people rarely
buy on there first visit but they will come back and buy
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:38 AM): As with everything, there are good affiliate folks
(like Allan Gardyne) and LOTS of thieves who simply don't communicate
or pay their affiliates.
Del (4/8/2002 9:38 AM): Entered the
room.
GOD (4/8/2002 9:39 AM): Which ones pay
nicely
Del (4/8/2002 9:39 AM): Busy busy morning.
Jonathan Cohen (Enlightened Editing)
(4/8/2002 9:39 AM): [hi Del]
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:39 AM): Hi GOD, I believe sitesell.com has a lifetime affiliate
program. They do it by referring URL I think, but you would have
to check it out thoroughly to make sure.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:39 AM): This is why I no longer take affiliate deals. Also,
I have little faith in advertisers' ability to close the sale
when I send them the lead.
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:39 AM): So the lesson here is to find trustworthy affiliates...
but where?
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:40 AM): One of them is Kevin Donlin's Guaranteed Resumes, G
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:40 AM): GOD, for every tape set you sell of mine, I pay $50;
books are $8. I pay commissions once you reach a $24 minimum.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:40 AM): I try to form business relationship, then
affiliate programs. It has worked out well for me financially.
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:40 AM): Commission Junction is one way to go
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:40 AM): Janiene, Allan's associateprograms.com is a good place
to start. You won't find anyone of higher quality.
Del (4/8/2002 9:40 AM): Rob: Have you
been having any problems with receiving emails to your WestHost
hosted email accounts?
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:41 AM): For example, if I wanted to participate in
Rob's affiliate program, I would probably exchange a few emails
with him and ask for a couple of references.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:41 AM): Fred, CJ and the like are real hypemeisters. Try to
find anyone who's making money with them -- and if you're offering
a program, it hardly ever pays out unless your product is very
high-priced.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:41 AM): I think the more targeted you get - meaning offering
things that are directly related/of interest to your own market,
the better you will do.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:42 AM): No, Del, I don't think so. Although I have noticed
that their mail list interface is a bit weird. I don't use them
for that. My wife does, though.
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:42 AM): I'm getting a steady paycheck from CJ - not much, but
it proves the system works.
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:43 AM): How do we get in touch with Allan?
GOD (4/8/2002 9:43 AM): Who is CJ?
Del (4/8/2002 9:43 AM): Rob: Their service
has been slacking as of late as well. Took over 30 hours to get
a reply to an email and when I tried to use them to park 2 domains,
after 28 hours, I went to namesecure instead (at half the price)...Around
5-6 hours later, I get an email from WestHost stating that they'll
REFUND my money since I registered with another company. Uh.
Duh.
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:44 AM): Commission Junction
Del (4/8/2002 9:44 AM): Rob: Have you
been having any problems with receiving emails to your WestHost
hosted email accounts?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:44 AM): Fred, the system works, but it's not sending your kids
to college....
Del (4/8/2002 9:44 AM): I didn't type
that again. Temporal distortion?
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:45 AM): Not temporal distortion, just fat fingers! (kidding!!!)
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:45 AM): WestHost is good for light stuff. I host a simple or
test site there because they get it up and running fast.
Jonathan Cohen (Enlightened Editing)
(4/8/2002 9:45 AM): Del, did you get my email last night?
Mike Chwastiak (Restaurant Voice) (4/8/2002
9:45 AM): Entered the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:46 AM): Janiene, you can reach Allan at http://www.associateprograms.com
. He's an NZ guy -- New Zealand.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:46 AM): Anyone else?
Well...If anyone wants a fast, painless
way to park a domain (and get free web page forwarding), I recommend
namesecure. (I spent $48 for 2 domains, 2 years registration).
(4/8/2002 9:46 AM): Entered the room.
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:46 AM): Cool... that's what I love about the WWW -- to do business
with the best, no matter where they are! Thanks Rob!
Mike Chwastiak (Restaurant Voice) (4/8/2002
9:46 AM): G'day Rob! Branding question: Paid newsletter vs. Free
newsletter. From a branding standpoint, would offering a paid
newsletter a stronger brand builder than offering a free one?
Underlying message being: 'our knowledge is worth money'. Sure
there'd be less sign-ups, etc. but I wonder if it wouldn't have
a better conversion rate to new clients? What's your thoughts
and experience?
GOD (4/8/2002 9:47 AM): what programs
are the best ones besides Rob's
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:47 AM): Rob -- just want to tell you how much help you and
everyone has been -- I've had a BIG breakthrough!
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:47 AM): I can make a suggestion Rob. If someone is looking
for an affiliate program. I would find the market for it online
first.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:48 AM): Cool Janiene!
Well...If anyone wants a fast, painless
way to park a domain (and get free web page forwarding), I recommend
namesecure. (I spent $48 for 2 domains, 2 years registration).
(4/8/2002 9:48 AM): Jonathan: just checked. I don't see one in
my inbox.
GOD (4/8/2002 9:48 AM): speak Janiene
Del (4/8/2002 9:48 AM): Entered the
room.
Del (4/8/2002 9:48 AM): Damn thing!
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:49 AM): George, my suggestion is to look at the FrankelBiz
model. I believe is offering a two tier model. One basic that's
free and another that's more value, for pay. That way you get
both.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:49 AM): I should tell you that, predictably, FrankelBiz (Free)
has way more subscribers than FrankelTips (Paid), but the quality
and values are different, too.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:50 AM): I have different expectations from each.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:50 AM): (TEN MINUTE WARNING)
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:50 AM): Yes... a paying customer that needs help -- an identity,
knows their market but hasn't made a dent by themselves, and
a greedy Ad Agency that makes me look wonderful, and a bargain!
GOD (4/8/2002 9:51 AM): Come on Janiene
tell us about your success
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:51 AM): FrankelBiz is there to promote my brand...if it makes
money, so be it (although FrankelBiz has been profitable for
sure!)
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:52 AM): FrankelTips attracts more serious players and promotes
at a higher level, and is also profitable.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:52 AM): Your product has a market Rob, so it works, but some
affiliate programs are too general. and you can't find a specific
market to go after online once you have the affiliate program
in place.
Del (4/8/2002 9:53 AM): bye
GOD (4/8/2002 9:53 AM): Be well all
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:53 AM): George, you've got it backwards! My products are so
niche as to almost be too narrow for affiliate. Affiliate programs
do best with high-ticket, broad market products, like exercise
equipment, etc. Hardly anyone know what branding is, let alone
thinks they need to know about it!
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:53 AM): George -- as I tell some of my customers, "Let's
just pick one market and go for it! Next month we'll pick another!"
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:54 AM): Rob, I just received a note from a Hong Kong magazine
asking to use my articles in their print version - translated
to Chinese and English - and sent to 160K subscribers every week.
What kind of "terms and conditions" would you suggest
for that?
Frederick (the1960area.com) (4/8/2002
9:54 AM): George, a general market comprises of lots of niches.
So pick a niche and ,market your general product to that niche,
No?
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:54 AM): Both good comments
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:54 AM): Well, there you have it. Can you believe that GOD dropped
in for a visit? Make sure you 're all back here next week when
Jesus Christ drops by.....
Michael Kimsal (michael@tapinternet.com)
(4/8/2002 9:54 AM): Entered the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:55 AM): Terri, I get the same thing. Give it to them for free
and ask for a reprint, making sure they mention your contact
information. That's the best you can hope for.
Jesus Christ (4/8/2002 9:55 AM): Entered
the room.
Jesus Christ (4/8/2002 9:55 AM): I'm
here now
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:55 AM): Terri, just get your name out there. Hopefully you'll
get more new biz leads that spam....
Ann (4/8/2002 9:55 AM): Entered the
room.
Jesus Christ (4/8/2002 9:55 AM): GOD
and I are essentially the same being
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:56
AM): you didn't have to wait till next week Rob ... there he
is now!
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:56 AM): What if a company has an incredible brand and millions
of followers and they are not using it too make more money. How
do you approach them.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:56 AM): They have agreed to including my contact info already
:)
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:56 AM): Hey! How lucky can you get!!!! Jesus Christ joins in!
Now if can only convince Moses to show up, but he's always so
late! Took him 40 years to cross a desert....
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:56 AM): hey JC -- do YOU need help with Branding Issues?
Jonathan Cohen (Enlightened Editing)
(4/8/2002 9:56 AM): oh manna...
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:57 AM): George, you approach them with a solid business plan
of how you can make them money.
Ann (4/8/2002 9:57 AM): I everybody...I'm
new here
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:57 AM): I think JC is happy with the fact I included him in
my book -- along with his logo.
Michael Kimsal (michael@tapinternet.com)
(4/8/2002 9:57 AM): Janeine, it's true my image has taken a beating
in recent years... I wanted to drop by to see what Rob could
offer.
GOD (4/8/2002 9:57 AM): What company
with great loyalty doesn't use it???
Michael Kimsal (michael@tapinternet.com)
(4/8/2002 9:57 AM): Damn - wrong window! :)
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:57 AM): hi Ann! We only have three minutes left. You have a
question?
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
9:57 AM): Hi Ann!
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:58 AM): I've seen a few, but the higher ups just didn't want
to do anything, for no apparent reason. Just couldn't see the
value - this despite dollar figures, charts etc.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
9:58 AM): George, you send them to Rob's i-legions! <grin>
Michael Kimsal (michael@tapinternet.com)
(4/8/2002 9:58 AM): Foiled again by multiple windows that all
look alike...
Fran (fcs@jim-fran.com) (4/8/2002 9:58
AM): Yeah, you are right Rob...but the one I want to see is Ezekiel
.. I want to ask him where he's been so long :)
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:58 AM): TWO MINTUES
Ann (4/8/2002 9:58 AM): I've just completed
a new ebook but not sure the best way to start promoting it
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:59 AM): George, it's a long sales cycle, but I am making progress.
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:59 AM): George, have you tried an "out of the
box" way of getting in front of them? Creative networking?
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
9:59 AM): Ann, you may want to look at http://www.RobFrankel.com/frankelink.html
Rebecca Hines (rebecca@thatnicecomputerlady.com
(4/8/2002 9:59 AM): Sometimes the typical sales call isn't enough.
George(businesslist@yahoo.com) (4/8/2002
9:59 AM): Hi Ann, I just bought the myks course from sitesell.com
and it has some excellent resources for promoting e-books - over
200 of them.
Terri Robinson (recruit2hire.com) (4/8/2002
10:00 AM): Rob and everyone - thanks for the great session (including
the humor from *high up*)!
Crawford (4/8/2002 10:00 AM): Entered
the room.
Rob Frankel (Rob@RobFrankel.com) (4/8/2002
10:00 AM): Okay, gotta split you guys! Have a great week!
Janiene (The No Ad Agency) (4/8/2002
10:00 AM): Thanks Rob -- you've made a huge difference for me...
